Getting around Spotify
To use my favorite music player i need to log into the service from France, Sweden etc, one of the places that it is available. The Netherlands is not one of these places!! So arrangements need to made to make Spotify think that i am in France!
This is my new permanent solution for my Mac, but its also applicable to Windows. https://www.ultravpn.fr/ It is a free VPN that gives its users a French IP address - just what i want. In the support pages – Here- i was given the necessary files – so that i dont have to download the executable (.dmg/.exe file) from UltraVPN. Dont forget to register for free @ ultraVPN!
Next i downloaded the open source VPN software Tunnelblick hosted by Google and put ca.crt client.opvn into ~/Library/openvpn folder.
Try connect to “client” using the UltraVPN credentials and login to Spotify and your done! Of course this only needs to be done once (5 minutes) every 2 weeks… Spotify thinks im on holidays dont you know!

More JDownloader
Just when i thought JDownloader couldn’t get any better – i discover a new feature. Automated Youtube downloading.
This may seem like an old or stupid feature to some but its very useful in some situations. My polish friend is a music addict that always wants music. This person always uses Youtube to source music – dont ask me why! Now music can be easily obtained using this.
Simply start JDownloader, and then copy the Youtube URL, it will grab all the info it needs and ask if you need it the video or audio. Go crazy – copy loads of Youtube videos – JDownloader can handle it!!!!!

Thing of the Week: TVU Player
Watching the six nations can be a bit of a pain when in a different country, if you dont what to go to the pub everytime. I tried use a website called justin.tv but it just ends with screaming at the computer!
I found this great application that lets anyone watch any station that you can think of. Japanese boxing, University Challenge or maybe a bit of Sky news. Pretty much anything you can think of. The streams don’t have the greatest of frame rates like TV, but the sound is good. It wouldn’t replace the rapidshare method of films and tv shows but it does make sense to use for sports.
